Frequently Asked Questions

How can you help me choose the right Medicare plan for my needs?

Read our BBB & Google reviews carefully and you’ll learn that Silver Sherpa Inc’s Medicare guidance team takes the time to listen to your needs and explain your options in clear language. We help you compare Medicare plans, so you understand the coverage and its cost implications. This way, you can feel confident about your choice and know you are getting coverage that fits your lifestyle needs.

How much does it cost to get help with Medicare plans from you?

Silver Sherpa Inc’s in-depth knowledge of Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medigap Supplement, and Part D Drug plans is offered to you at no cost! The Federal Government, Medicare, does not allow brokers or agents to charge a fee. Our income is derived from insurance company commissions. Whether you go directly to an insurance company or use a broker, your policy will have the same monthly premium. There is no pricing advantage offered by going direct to the insurance company.

Will you help me if I have questions after I sign up for a Medicare plan?

Yes, you can count on Silver Sherpa Inc for support even after you sign up for a Medicare plan. When working with our clients we expect to earn three things: 1) your respect; 2) your trust/confidence; 3) referrals from friends, family, and anyone else about to tackle Mount Medicare. We continue to earn these three things by helping our clients before, during and after they make their plan selections. We’ll do the same for you.

Can you explain the difference between Medicare and other health insurance?

Medicare is the Federal health insurance program for people 65 or older who no longer have an active employer/group coverage option. Federal Medicare does NOT have a catastrophic limit or MOOP, that’s why understanding Medigap and Medicare Advantage plans is so crucial. (Some disabled people under the age of 65 also qualify for Medicare.)

How long does it take to sign up for a Medicare Advante or Medigap Supplement plan with your help?

Signing up for a Medicare Advantage or Medigap plan isn’t necessarily all of the brain damage you’ll encounter when transitioning from employer/group/individual coverage to Medicare. The brain damage can start early if you try to go-it-alone during the Federal Medicare (A&B) enrollment process. This process can include navigating multiple government websites, jumping back and forth between your mobile device and a computer, and as of summer 2025…taking selfies and other pictures. NO JOKE FOLKS! That’s why we have a Super-Admin Sherpa on staff that will guide you through these convoluted steps.

Can you help me if I am already on Medicare but want to make a plan change?

Yes, you can get help from us even if you are already on Medicare. About 75% of our new clients are New To Medicare; the other 25%  seek us out to help them change their existing Medicare plan. We are eager to assist both populations.

Do you offer help in-person, or only over the phone?

From a Medicare regulatory perspective, we can enroll people into plans via the phone, video conference, email, or in-person. We let our clients dictate how/where the enrollment occurs. We always believe that the in-person approach offers the most satisfying result. This is especially true for folks who are New To Medicare. However, we have clients spread all over the country, so we understand how to deliver outstanding virtual service too.

Will you help me review my options every year?

Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) lasts annually from October 15th-December 7th. Early each autumn we offer engaging client events designed to ensure that all our clients are in the know about the upcoming year’s plan options. Of course, these group engagements are fortified with personal coverage reviews as well.

Can you help me understand what Medicare does not cover?

Federal Medicare (A&B) has more than 10,000 billing codes. However, some notable exceptions include dental care, vision test/glasses, hearing aids, and overseas travel. The BIG-TICKET item missing on Federal Medicare’s coverage is Long Term Care (LTC). LTC can be thought of as long-term institutional type care such as assisted living, memory care, nursing home, and skilled nursing/rehab stays that exceed 100 days.

How do you make sure my personal information stays private?

This is a question people just don’t ask enough. You trust your insurance broker with sensitive and private data. Many brokers don’t respect your privacy; they cut corners when it comes to data safety to save a few pennies. Always ask the person you trust your private information with several security questions. First, do they have a Virtual Private Network (VPN) on their device. Then make them prove it! Next, are the forms they are using HIPAA-compliant. If they can’t prove they are conducting business through a VPN using HIPAA-level security, find another broker!

What is your service area?

We are a Colorado-based Medicare brokerage with clients in 38 different states. Whether you live in Highlands Ranch, Centennial, or Littleton we are a hop, skip, and jump away. That said, while many of our clients live in Douglas, Arapahoe, and Jefferson counties, we also have clients on the Western Slope, Mountain Towns, Pueblo, Colorado Springs, Ft Collins, and just about everywhere in between. Moreover, our outstanding service has earned us referrals (and clients) in Florida, Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, New Mexico, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Utah, California, Washington, and Iowa to name just a few.
